Tugboats Outlast Leaf Ray in OT Classics, Win Rocky Mountain Minor Title to Return to PIHA Finals
The Mile High Mavin Tugboats are headed back to the PIHA Finals after surviving a three-game grind against the Lambs Grove Leaf Ray in the PIHA Minor Rocky Mountain Division Final.
The series had everything—two overtime thrillers to open, then a decisive closeout. Lambs Grove grabbed Game 1 in OT, but the Tugboats answered with an OT win of their own in Game 2 before finishing the job in Game 3 with a convincing 4–1 victory to take the series 2–1 and secure the final berth in the eight-team Minor championship weekend.

Game 1: Leaf Ray Steal the Opener in Overtime, 3–2
The championship series opened with playoff tension from the start. Mile High battled to a 2–2 deadlock through regulation, but Lambs Grove found the finishing touch in overtime to take Game 1 3–2 and put the Tugboats immediately on the ropes.
Game 2: Tugboats Answer Back in OT, 4–3
Facing a must-win, the Tugboats responded with their best push of the weekend—matching Lambs Grove stride-for-stride, forcing overtime again, and this time delivering the dagger to even the series at 1–1. The 4–3 overtime win flipped the pressure straight back onto the Leaf Ray and set up a winner-take-all finale.
Game 3: Tugboats Close the Door, 4–1
After two straight OT battles, Mile High removed all doubt in Game 3. The Tugboats tightened up defensively, created separation offensively, and controlled the deciding game to a 4–1 win—claiming the Rocky Mountain crown and the ticket to the Finals.
What It Means
With the Rocky Mountain title secured, the Mile High Mavin Tugboats are once again PIHA Finals-bound, punching the final ticket into the eight-team Minor championship weekend.
Two overtime wars hardened them. A composed closeout finished it. Now the Tugboats head to the Finals with momentum—and the belief that this return trip can end with hardware.
