Snipers outlast Legends in OT: Head to Ship

by Anthony Flynn

The Long Island Snipers finished a top of the highly competitive Northeast division this season.  Their path to the Finals alone was not an easy one.  It took a game three overtime victory against the Suffolk Sting to earn a trip to the Finals to begin with.  They would however be the only 3-0 team in the round robin portion of the weekend.  That earned them the #1 seed and drew the winner of the Tugboats and Legends.  They eventually found themselves matched up with a familiar foe in their Northeast division counter the Empire State Legends.  The two squads split a pair of regular season games and set up what would be a great game.

As it seems he had done all weekend, Will Lalor of the Snipers tallied the game's first goal.  Marc Mayer answered back just a few minute later to tie the game at 1-1.  The Snipers got a goal from Ryan Sheflin to retake the lead, but just moments later Nick Walker responded to tie the game at 2-2.  The score would not change through the entire second period.  It wasn't until 3 minutes into overtime that Ryan Wolsiefer would score the game clinching goal to send the Snipers to the Championship series.

The Snipers will face the defending Semi-Pro champion Marple Gladiators starting tomorrow at 8:30am MT.
