Semi-Pro Northeast Crossover Delivers 24-Game Showcase at Skate Safe America
OLD BETHPAGE, NY — Two weeks after the PIHA Minor Division invaded Skate Safe America, it was the Semi-Pro Division's turn to take over Long Island.
All 12 Northeast Region Semi-Pro teams descended on Skate Safe America on Saturday, October 10, for the first of two full Metropolitan–Mid-Atlantic crossover festivals scheduled for the 2026-27 season. Each team played four games exclusively against opponents from the opposite division, producing a massive 24-game slate across Skate Safe's two rinks.
By the time the final games ended, neither division had gained the upper hand.
The Metropolitan and Mid-Atlantic Divisions split the crossover exactly 12 wins apiece, an appropriate result for a day that repeatedly demonstrated just how much parity exists throughout the Northeast. Four games required overtime, seven different teams finished the day at .500 or better, and five teams collected three victories.
The New Jersey Assault, New Jersey Jagaloons and Philadelphia Barons each went 3-1 for the Mid-Atlantic, while Suffolk Sting and Fusion Steel Legends matched them at 3-1 from the Metropolitan side.
Long Island Empire Snipers and Connecticut Coasters each split their four games at 2-2, while several other teams saw narrow decisions determine what could easily have been very different records.
From noon until well into the evening, Skate Safe America provided a fitting stage for one of the biggest Semi-Pro events of the regular season.

Drue Santora stopped 15 of 18 shots as Suffolk held on to finish its crossover at 3-1.
Individual Standouts
Josh Weger — Suffolk Sting
Weger was one of the most consistent goal scorers at Skate Safe.
He opened the day with a hat trick against Pottstown, scored twice against the Jagaloons, and added goals against both New Jersey Assault and Fusion Blizzard. That gave Weger seven goals over Suffolk's four games, while also contributing to a Sting team that finished 3-1.
Frank Dechiara — Long Island Empire Snipers
Dechiara did most of his damage during Long Island's first two games — but what damage it was.
He scored twice in the 3-1 win over Marple and then erupted for four goals against Pottstown, giving him six goals before the Snipers had even reached the midpoint of their schedule.
Eddie Dahdah — New Jersey Jagaloons
Dahdah was at the center of a 3-1 day for the Jagaloons.
He recorded a hat trick in the 9-3 opening victory over Western Mass, scored twice against Suffolk — including the overtime winner just 16 seconds into the extra period — and added another goal against Long Island.
Christian Hoppeler — New Jersey Jagaloons
Hoppeler continued to establish himself as one of the most dangerous offensive players in the Northeast.
He scored twice and was involved throughout the Jagaloons' nine-goal opening performance, then added another goal against Suffolk while continuing to create offense for his linemates.
Julian Boisclair — Western Mass Wings
Western Mass had a difficult opening three games, but Boisclair produced throughout the day.
He scored against New Jersey in the opener, scored twice against New Jersey Assault and finished the event with a hat trick against Philadelphia, helping the Wings close with a 7-3 win.
Tom Russo — New Jersey Assault
Russo authored one of Saturday's biggest individual games right out of the gate.
He scored four goals in New Jersey Assault's 5-1 opening victory over East Coast Rebellion, including the final three Assault goals.
Trevor Cear — New Jersey Assault
Cear gave Assault another major individual performance in its second game, recording a hat trick in the 5-3 win over Western Mass. His production helped New Jersey start 2-0 and ultimately finish the day 3-1.
Matt Crowley and John Pinheiro — Connecticut Coasters
Connecticut received major production from both players.
Pinheiro scored a hat trick, including the overtime winner, against Fusion Blizzard and continued to contribute later in the day. Crowley scored twice in that same game before producing a hat trick against Marple in Connecticut's second victory.
Cody Rotkiske — Pottstown Space Force
Rotkiske became more dangerous as the day progressed.
After scoring Pottstown's lone goal against Suffolk, he scored twice in the overtime loss to Fusion Steel and then finished with a hat trick in the 5-1 victory over Connecticut.
Andrew Amodei — SK Marple Gladiators
Marple endured three losses before finally breaking through, and Amodei played a major role in the turnaround.
He scored twice against Connecticut and then recorded a hat trick in the 4-3 victory over East Coast Rebellion to close the day.
Goaltending Performances
Several goaltenders turned in noteworthy games.
Drue Santora recorded a 12-save shutout for Suffolk against New Jersey Assault. Anthony Gizzi stopped 21 of 22 in Assault's win over Long Island. Mike Camasso stopped 16 of 17 as Fusion Steel upset the previously unbeaten Jagaloons, while David Stenzel made 23 saves in Marple's closing victory.
A Crossover That Could Not Have Been More Even
For all the individual storylines, perhaps the most striking result came when the entire event was viewed division against division.
After 24 Metropolitan–Mid-Atlantic games, each side won exactly 12.
The Mid-Atlantic received 3-1 performances from the New Jersey Assault, New Jersey Jagaloons and Philadelphia Barons, while Fusion Blizzard, SK Marple and Pottstown each finished 1-3.
The Metropolitan answered with 3-1 days from Suffolk Sting and Fusion Steel Legends, 2-2 records from Long Island Empire Snipers and Connecticut Coasters, and 1-3 finishes from East Coast Rebellion and Western Mass Wings.
The records don't tell the entire story, either. Several of those losses came in overtime, and a number of games were decided by a single goal.
Saturday did not settle the question of which Northeast Semi-Pro division is stronger.
If anything, it made the debate considerably more interesting. The 24 official game sheets collectively produce the 12-12 divisional split.
The Northeast Comes Together
Two weeks earlier, Skate Safe America hosted a massive PIHA Minor crossover. On October 10, the Semi-Pro Division followed.
Putting all 12 Northeast teams under one roof offered something the normal divisional schedule cannot: a chance to see nearly the entire region side-by-side over the course of one afternoon.
Every organization played four games. Every matchup crossed divisional lines. And by the end of the night, almost every portion of the standings had been affected.
The format also provided a preview of what awaits later in the season when these teams eventually begin positioning themselves for the Northeast postseason.
And there is still another chapter to come.
The second Metropolitan–Mid-Atlantic crossover is scheduled for January 30 at Marple Sports Arena, when the divisions will meet again with four more crossover games per team and considerably more at stake as the regular season moves toward its conclusion.
Next Up: Yellow Breeches on November 7
The Northeast Semi-Pro schedule continues Saturday, November 7 at Yellow Breeches Sports Center, where a group of Mid-Atlantic teams will collide in the next regional event.
For the 12 teams leaving Long Island, however, Saturday represented one of the most significant checkpoints of the early season.
Twenty-four games.
Twelve teams.
Two divisions.
And after an entire day of head-to-head hockey, absolutely nothing separated them — 12 wins for the Metropolitan, 12 wins for the Mid-Atlantic.
