Rebels & Fire Ants Advance in Dixie Playoffs

The Dixie division semi-final round took place on Saturday.  The first seed Rebels took on the 4th place Peaches, while the 2nd seed Phoenix squared off with the third place Fire Ants.  Each series would be a best of three, with the winners set to play a best of five on Sunday, for the privilege to go to the PIHA Finals in Colorado in March.

Proving that anything can happen in the playoffs, the last place Peaches upset the top seed in game one 3-0, putting the Rebels in a do or die situation.  The Rebels responded with 7-2 win in game two, but in a super tight game three the Rebels edged out the Peaches 1-0 to stamp their ticket to the Division championship on Sunday.

In the other match up, it was the underdog Fire Ants who toppled the Phoenix in a series sweep winning 4-0 and 2-1.  They will now meet the Rebels in a winner take all best of five division championship tomorrow starting at 2:00pm.
