PIHA Saturday Night in Colorado: Tugboats Stay Perfect, Thunder Sweep in Parker
The energy was electric Saturday night in Parker as the PIHA’s Rocky Mountain Division hosted a four-game showcase at Foothill Fieldhouse. Two Minor Division matchups between the Mile High Mavin Tugboats and Manitou Vikings were followed by a pair of high-tempo Pro Division contests featuring the Colorado Springs Thunder and Parker Royals. Fans were treated to a full night of fast-paced hockey, standout goaltending, and critical early-season wins that shaped both divisional standings.
Minor Division
Game 1 – Mile High Mavin Tugboats 5, Manitou Vikings 1 (6:00 PM MDT)
Manitou opened through Kevin Turnau (#12) from Kent Waugh (#8), but the Tugboats answered with a first-period flurry: goals by Phillip Hartman (#4) (from Dakota Long #28), an unassisted strike, and a late tally from Long (#28) off Jacob Huff (#10). In the second, Hartman added another and Jamal Atta (#12) (from JJ Record #14) capped it for 5–1. Sean Oram faced 25 shots for Manitou; Adam Shiers made 12 saves for Mile High.
Game 2 – Mile High Mavin Tugboats 5, Manitou Vikings 2 (6:45 PM MDT)
Manitou again started fast as Turnau (#12) scored twice (one assisted by Andrew Kurth #19). Mile High’s depth took over: Joel Sheehan (#19) (from JJ Record #14), Hartman (#4), Max Szejda (#91), Huff (#10), and Atta (#12) delivered the reply for a second straight 5-goal outing. Jeremiah Record stopped 18 for Manitou in the nightcap; Shiers went the distance for the Tugboats.
Minor records: Tugboats sweep to 4-0-0 on the season; Vikings fall to 0-4-0.

Game 1 – Colorado Springs Thunder 3, Parker Royals 2 (7:30 PM MDT)
Parker jumped ahead on Andrew Decarlo (#82) (from Brian Adams #57) and Reid Goodman (#11). The Thunder rallied: Eric Bogenrief (#11) (from Georgie Barber #8) late in the first, then second-period goals by Jack Beisner (#17) and Josh Serby (#7) (from Hunter Dymond #5) flipped it to 3–2. Eric Anderson backstopped the Thunder; Avery McDonnell handled Parker’s netminding.
Game 2 – Colorado Springs Thunder 3, Parker Royals 2 (8:15 PM MDT)
Parker scored first just :51 in on Adams (#57) (from Blake Bride #12 and Beisner #17), then added a short-handed marker from Decarlo (#82) early in the second. The Thunder answered with three straight: Serby (#7) (from CJ Yoder #9), Alec Fish (#15), and Yoder (#9) (from Fish #15). Anderson turned aside 19 of 21 to complete the sweep; McDonnell made 19 saves for Parker.
Pro records: Thunder climb to 3-1-0 (first place early in the West); Parker moves to 1-3-0.
