East Playoffs on Horizon

by Anthony Flynn

Three separate venues will host this weekend's playoffs on the east coast.  All three levels (Pro, Semi, & Minor) will play down to just the teams headed to the PIHA Finals.

The Pro will send just one representative to Colorado to face off against the Rocky Mountain champion, as the league returns to the more traditional best of seven final series. Marple Sports Arena will be the host as all six teams will play down to just one winner.  Qtr Final series will take place early on Saturday, with the winners moving on to the evening's semi-finals.  Sunday the remaining two teams will play to stamp their ticket to Colorado and the PIHA Finals.

Semi-Pro will send two teams from each division to the Finals.  The Atlantic division semi teams also meet at Marple Sports Arena.  The quarter-final round, featuring all eight teams, will be played Saturday afternoon and the four remaining teams advance to Sunday's division semi-finals.  The two winners on Sunday will advance to the Colorado and the PIHA Finals.

The Northeast Division semi-pro teams will converge on Skate Safe America on Saturday for their quarter-final match ups. Just like the Atlantic set up the final four will play down to just two on Sunday, with those winners earning a trip to Colorado and the Finals.

The two Atlantic and two Northeast semi-pro winners will meet the two Rocky Mountain winners in a six team pool at the Finals, which will feature a mini tournament to play down to a Semi-Pro National Champion.

While the east coast minor teams will not head to the PIHA Finals, each division will play down to a winner and the two winners will meet for a best of five series.  The Atlantic final four will meet Saturday at Yellow Breeches and the final two will play Sunday to earn a birth to the East Coast Final.  Likewise, the four Northeast minor teams meet Saturday at Skate Safe, with the final two playing on Sunday.

Best of luck to all the teams.
