Division Semi-Finals Recap: Propel Advances

by Anthony Flynn

The Propel MG secured their spot in the Keystone Division Semi-Pro Final after a decisive two-game sweep over the Fusion Blizzard, outscoring their opponents 12-5 in the series. Propel’s combination of depth scoring and strong goaltending proved too much for the Blizzard, whose season came to an end in Game 2.

Division Semi-Finals Game 1: Propel Takes Offensive Control

Propel set the tone in Game 1 with a dominant offensive performance, winning 7-3 on the back of a hat trick from Scott Huber and stellar playmaking by Zach Tarantino.

Key Performances:
  • Scott Huber (Propel): Hat trick, including two first-period goals, to jumpstart Propel's offense.
  • Zach Tarantino (Propel): Two goals and two assists, consistently driving Propel’s attack.
  • Cody Zajaczkowski (Blizzard): A goal and an assist, one of the few bright spots for the Blizzard offense.

The Blizzard struck first with Zajaczkowski finding the back of the net early in the first, but Propel stormed back with four unanswered goals to take a commanding lead. Hunter Frattaroli turned aside 15 of 18 shots, ensuring the Blizzard couldn’t claw back.

Final Score: Propel MG 7, Fusion Blizzard 3

Division Semi-Finals Game 2: Propel Closes Out in Style

Game 2 was a tighter contest early on, but Propel pulled away in the second period, scoring four unanswered goals to secure a 5-2 victory and sweep the series.

Key Performances:
  • Scott Huber (Propel): Followed up his Game 1 heroics with another two goals and an assist.
  • Chris Conner (Propel): Anchored the defense and contributed a key power-play goal to widen the gap.
  • PJ Breslow (Blizzard): Scored late in the second period, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback.

The Blizzard fought valiantly, with goals from Jason Stitt and Breslow keeping them in the game midway through the second. However, Propel’s balanced attack and airtight defense iced the game, capped by an empty-net goal from Huber.

Final Score: Propel MG 5, Fusion Blizzard 2

What’s Next for Propel MG?

Propel MG advances to the Keystone Semi-Pro Division Final on Sunday, where they will face either the Marple SK Labeda Gladiators or the Philadelphia Barons. That series is set to begin Saturday evening at 5:45pm.

A Strong Season for the Blizzard

Despite the early playoff exit, the Fusion Blizzard have much to be proud of this season. Players like Cody Zajaczkowski and PJ Breslow emerged as offensive leaders, and their goaltending tandem of Dylan Sapienza and Zach Orcutt gave them a solid backbone throughout the year.

The Blizzard’s growth this season sets a strong foundation for future success in the division.
