Bigger, Better, Later: PIHA Reveals New Dates for 2027 Finals in Colorado Springs
The PIHA is once again heading back to one of the sport’s premier venues, officially announcing that the 2026-27 PIHA Finals will return to the Pepsi Roller Sports Arena in Colorado Springs.
The championship weekend is scheduled for April 30 through May 2, 2027, with Thursday, April 29 serving as a potential opening date depending on league size and scheduling needs.
Widely regarded as one of the top roller hockey facilities in the country, the Pepsi Roller Sports Arena has become a favorite among players, fans, and league officials alike. The arena features stadium seating, in-house video production capabilities, professional-quality locker rooms, and a balcony bar that overlooks the action, creating an atmosphere unmatched in the sport.
League officials cited several reasons for moving the Finals deeper into the spring calendar after the event had traditionally been held during the final weekend of March in recent seasons.
One of the primary reasons for the switch is that Easter falls on the traditional Finals weekend in 2027, creating travel and scheduling complications for teams and families. In addition, continued league growth has made additional regular season dates increasingly important as rink availability remains limited across many markets.
The league also noted the need for more flexibility when scheduling regional playoffs, which have historically faced challenges during February due to holidays, the Super Bowl, and competing roller hockey events around the country.
Weather concerns also played a significant role in the decision. By moving the Finals to late April and early May, the league expects to reduce the likelihood of weather-related travel disruptions that can impact teams and fans traveling from across North America.
Another important factor was travel affordability. League officials believe creating additional time between regional playoffs and the Finals will help teams better manage rising airfare costs and overall travel logistics.
Last season’s Finals delivered one of the most exciting championship weekends in recent memory, and expectations are even higher for 2027. With the combination of elite competition, a world-class venue, and the destination appeal of Colorado Springs, the Professional Inline Hockey Association is positioning next season’s Finals to be its biggest and best yet.
“Colorado Springs is an amazing destination, and the Pepsi Roller Sports Arena remains the best single-rink roller hockey destination in the country,” league representatives said.
