Game-by-Game Recap

New Jersey edges Barons in wild opener

New Jersey Assault 7, Philadelphia Barons 6 – 12:30 PM

The festival opened with a track meet, as New Jersey and Philadelphia traded goals in a high-tempo game that never slowed down. Both offenses pushed the pace, but Assault’s depth ultimately carried them over the line in a 7–6 decision that set the tone for their perfect day.

Gladiators roll early against Fusion

Marple SK Labeda Gladiators 5, Fusion Blizzard 1 – 1:10 PM

Marple came out organized and efficient in its first game, outshooting Fusion and controlling long stretches of possession. The Gladiators built a multi-goal cushion early and never let Blizzard back into the contest, skating away with a 5–1 win to start their day.

Barons survive Baymen in overtime

Chesapeake Baymen 3, Philadelphia Barons 4 (OT) – 1:50 PM

The first overtime of the festival belonged to the Barons. Chesapeake struck for a pair of goals and pushed the pace, but Philadelphia answered each surge and forced extra time. In OT, the Barons capitalized on a breakdown to seal a 4–3 win and bank their first points of the day.

Assault wins heavyweight tilt with Marple

New Jersey Assault 7, Marple SK Labeda Gladiators 5 – 2:30 PM

In one of the marquee matchups of the event, Assault and the Gladiators combined for 12 goals. Marple’s offense continued to click, but New Jersey repeatedly turned defensive stops into quick-strike rushes and always seemed to find the next answer. A late push from the Gladiators made it interesting, but Assault held on for a 7–5 victory and a 2–0 start.

Barons complete two-game sweep of Chesapeake

Philadelphia Barons 6, Chesapeake Baymen 3 – 3:10 PM

The Barons and Baymen met again in the mid-afternoon, and for the second time, Philadelphia’s depth proved decisive. Chesapeake generated offense and stayed in contact into the second half, but the Barons strung together a series of goals to pull away 6–3 and complete a two-game sweep of the Baymen.

Assault keeps rolling against Fusion

Fusion Blizzard 3, New Jersey Assault 7 – 3:50 PM

Assault’s third outing was another clinic. Facing a fresh Fusion lineup, New Jersey pumped home seven more goals and limited Blizzard’s grade-A looks. The result pushed Assault to 3–0 on the day and underscored just how dangerous their transition game can be when they’re in rhythm.

Gladiators pour it on versus Baymen

Marple SK Labeda Gladiators 9, Chesapeake Baymen 5 – 4:30 PM

In a wide-open offensive showcase, Marple and Chesapeake combined for 14 goals. The Baymen found ways to score, but the Gladiators answered almost every time—and often in bunches. Marple’s attack overwhelmed late, turning a competitive game into a 9–5 win and another important result in the standings.

Fusion grinds out key win over Barons

Philadelphia Barons 3, Fusion Blizzard 4 – 5:10 PM

Fusion Blizzard’s breakthrough came in a tight, low-shot contest against the Barons. Blizzard managed the puck well, limited Philadelphia’s odd-man rushes, and capitalized on their chances to edge out a 4–3 win. It was a critical response after tough earlier results and put an exclamation point on Fusion’s day.

Assault finishes perfect with win over Chesapeake

Chesapeake Baymen 2, New Jersey Assault 6 – 5:50 PM

New Jersey capped its festival with another convincing performance, this time against the Baymen. Assault balanced a structured defensive effort with yet another multi-goal showing up front, pulling away for a 6–2 win and an unblemished 4–0 record.

Nightcap: Gladiators and Fusion close the curtain

Marple SK Labeda Gladiators vs Fusion Blizzard – 6:30 PM

The final game of the evening provided a second meeting between Marple and Fusion. With both teams already deep into a heavy workload, the nightcap was all about execution and discipline. Final details from the scoresheet were not yet available at press time, but the matchup served as an important final measuring stick for both clubs.

Team-by-Team Breakdown

New Jersey Assault

Assault were the undisputed headliners at Yellow Breeches. Four games, four wins, and 27 goals scored illustrate just how deep and dangerous this group can be.

They outlasted the Barons in a 7–6 shootout, outscored Marple 7–5 in a marquee clash, and then rolled to comfortable wins over both Fusion and Chesapeake. New Jersey consistently turned neutral-zone turnovers into offense, supported by goaltending that held up whenever games threatened to open up.

If this festival was any indication, Assault will be a central problem for the rest of the division as the playoff picture comes into focus.

Philadelphia Barons

The Barons’ day was defined by slim margins. They were one shot away against Assault in the opener and one bounce short against Fusion in the evening. In between, they took care of business in both games against Chesapeake.

The 2–2 record is only part of the story: Philadelphia showed that its offense can trade punches with anyone, but also highlighted the need to tighten up defensively against the division’s fastest teams.

Marple SK Labeda Gladiators

Marple delivered exactly what you expect from a club with serious aspirations—strong offensive showings and a clear identity. A 5–1 win over Fusion set the tone, and a nine-goal outburst against the Baymen reaffirmed just how much firepower the Gladiators possess.

The lone setback, a 7–5 loss to Assault, provided a useful benchmark: Marple can absolutely run with the top teams, but will focus on cleaning up defensive details in high-event games. With the late result vs Fusion still pending, the Gladiators leave New Cumberland with at least a winning record and momentum.

Fusion Blizzard

Fusion saw the full spectrum in one day. They were handled by Marple early and overrun by Assault in the mid-afternoon, but responded with an important 4–3 win over the Barons and then closed the night with a second test against the Gladiators.

The win over Philadelphia showed what Fusion looks like when they are in structure: smart puck management, opportunistic finishing, and goaltending that makes timely stops. Finding that level consistently against the elite offenses in the division will be their chief focus down the stretch.

Chesapeake Baymen

The Baymen may not have come away with the results they wanted, but they were in the fight more often than their 0–3–1 mark suggests. An overtime heartbreaker to the Barons set a frustrating tone, and though Chesapeake kept generating offense—especially in the 5- and 3-goal outings against Marple and Philadelphia—they struggled to slow the best attacks in the building.

For Chesapeake, the path forward is clear: keep leaning on their top-end scorers, but simplify and tighten up in their own end to convert “close” into “wins.”

Individual Performance Highlights

  • New Jersey Assault forward group – Assault’s top six drove the bus all day, producing multiple seven-goal outputs and consistently turning defense into offense. Their combined work rate and finishing touch separated New Jersey from the field.

  • Marple SK Labeda Gladiators’ offensive core – From the 5–1 win over Fusion to the nine-goal outburst against Chesapeake, Marple’s forwards showed they can attack in waves and punish any breakdown.

  • Philadelphia’s clutch scoring duo – The Barons’ top scorers delivered in key moments, including the overtime winner and a multi-goal effort in the two victories over the Baymen.

  • Fusion’s late-game heroes – Blizzard’s skaters stepped up in their 4–3 win over the Barons, with their finishers capitalizing on limited chances and their goaltending closing the door in the final minutes.

  • Chesapeake’s offensive leaders – Despite a tough schedule, the Baymen’s top line repeatedly found ways onto the scoresheet, helping keep games against Philadelphia and Marple competitive deep into regulation.
