12/14 Murrysville Recap (Pro)

The Murrysville SportZone hosted a day of East Division hockey where the Michigan Fury, Pittsburgh Inferno, and Marple SK Labeda Gladiators competed in a mix of tightly contested games and dominant performances. Michigan Fury and Pittsburgh Inferno emerged as the top teams, consistently outplaying their opponents.  Meanwhile, the Few werea late drop from the event, causing them to forfeit games.


Game-by-Game Recap
  1. The Few vs. Pittsburgh Inferno (EP45)
    The day began with The Few forfeiting to Pittsburgh Inferno, giving Pittsburgh a 1-0 win.

  2. Marple SK Labeda Gladiators vs. Michigan Fury (EP46)
    In an overtime thriller, the Michigan Fury edged out the Gladiators 4-3. Both teams fought hard, but Michigan's ability to capitalize in OT made the difference.

  3. Marple SK Labeda Gladiators vs. Pittsburgh Inferno (EP47)
    The Inferno dominated with a 5-0 shutout victory over Marple. Pittsburgh’s defense was impenetrable, while their offense found consistent success.

  4. Pittsburgh Inferno vs. Michigan Fury (EP48)
    Michigan Fury continued their winning form with a convincing 5-2 victory over the Inferno. Michigan’s offensive cohesion and speed proved too much for Pittsburgh.  This was a key match up for playoff positioning and three big points for Michigan.

  5. Michigan Fury vs. Marple SK Labeda Gladiators (EP49)
    Michigan’s relentless attack secured them a 6-2 victory over Marple. The Fury controlled the game from start to finish with superior puck movement and defensive coverage.

  6. Pittsburgh Inferno vs. Marple SK Labeda Gladiators (EP50)
    Pittsburgh earned a 4-1 win over Marple, dominating the game with strong defensive plays and well-executed scoring opportunities.  The game was tight until late in the second period, when the Inferno broke a 1-1 tie.

  7. Michigan Fury vs. The Few (EP51)
    In another forfeited game, Michigan Fury claimed a 1-0 win over The Few, concluding their dominant day.


Event Summary

Standout Teams:

  • Michigan Fury: The Fury were the top performers of the event, securing multiple wins, including a thrilling OT victory against Marple and a commanding 5-2 win over Pittsburgh. Their balanced play and offensive firepower solidified their dominance.

  • Pittsburgh Inferno: Pittsburgh displayed consistency and control, earning three wins, including a 5-0 shutout against Marple. Their defensive strength was a key factor in their success.

Notable Performances:

  • Marple SK Labeda Gladiators: Despite moments of competitiveness, including their close OT loss to Michigan, Marple struggled against the top teams, finishing the day winless.

  • The Few: Two forfeits prevented The Few from competing, leaving their potential untested during this event.  They also lost two games on their schedule, which effectively count as forfeits.


The Murrysville SportZone games highlighted the strength of Michigan Fury and Pittsburgh Inferno as leading forces in the East Division. Their dominant performances and ability to excel in both tight and one-sided games left a strong impression on the competition.
