02/25 Marples Recap (Pro)
All six east coast pro teams converged on Marple Sports Arena on Saturday. This season the teams on the east will play only 16 games and this event was games 13-16 for all six in attendance. This was the second of two meetings with all six teams this season and the opportunity for teams separated by a considerable distance to meet in the middle and get their match ups in.
Entering the weekend the Inferno owned a slight edge in the division against the defending champion Sting. The Sting used the event as a spring board back into a tie for first place, going 4-0, including their second 4-1 victory over the Inferno this season. They also posted two 4-1 wins against the Few and 6-4 win against the New Age. The two victories over the Inferno this season currently serve as the tie breaker, if the teams were to finished tied at the end of the season.
The Inferno went 3-1 on the day, one of those wins a 2-1 OT victory against the Aces. They later defeated the Aces again 5-4 in regulation and blew out the Rebellion 8-1. The Aces, who currently sit in the number three position in the division, went 2-1-1 on the day, including the OT and regulation losses to the Inferno. Their two victories were a 2-1 win against the Few and 6-2 win against the New Age.
The Few went 1-3 on the day, with a pair of 4-1 losses to the Sting, a tight 2-1 loss the the Aces, and their lone 7-3 victory against the Rebellion. The New Age went 2-2 on the day with a pair of victories (6-4 & 7-0) against the Rebellion, who went 0-4 on the day.
All six teams will complete their regular seasons in a few weeks on March 11th in two separate events. The Inferno, New Age, and the Few will meet in Pittsburgh, while the Sting, Aces, and Rebellion will meet in Rhode Island.
