02/18 Yellow Breeches Recap (Semi)

by Anthony Flynn

The entire Atlantic division converged on Yellow Breeches on Saturday for a long day of PIHA semi-pro action.  Teams will jockey for much needed points, as they set up for the final weekend of action in March.

The front running teams all earned points in every game they played on Saturday.  The first place Deuces continued their dominance, going 4-0 on the day and now boast a league season leading 10 game winning streak.  The Gladiators, finished the 3-0-1, with a shootout loss in their first game to the Typhoon.  Wheel City kept pace with the Deuces, winning all four of their games.  Hershey went 2-2 on the day, as they secured to top half finish in the standings.

The Grizzlies earned their first win of the season, in a contested overtime game against the Steel City Shockwave, but then dropped all three of their final games, including the final game in overtime to the Iron Knights.  Both the Sting Rays and Iron Knights each only earned one victory on Saturday (both against the Grizzlies).

Headed into the final weekend of the season the teams in both the top half of the division and bottom half will all jockey for playoff position.  The season will wrap up on in two separate events.  The first in Mt Pleasant, PA will host the Typhoon, Shockwave, Sting Rays, and Iron Knights.  The second event will be held at Inman in Edison, NJ and will be a final battle for first place as the Deuces, Wheel City, Gladiators, and Grizzlies collide one last time.
