02/04 Weekend Round Up

by Anthony Flynn

Two festivals took center stage this week on the east coast.  The two events were separated by quite a bit of distance.  The festival being held at Marple, was the final cross division event of the season in the semi-pro division.  The Legends, Snipers, Flamingos, and Impact all traveled down from the NE division to play the Atlantic divisions four western most teams the Shockwave, Typhoon, Iron Knights, and Sting Rays.

More to follow from the East…

In the Rocky Mountain Division, “split” was once again the theme in the Pro division. Early Saturday in Parker, the Denver Demon Dogs and the Parker Prowlers traded wins on the day, with the Dogs winning 5-1 in the first game and the Prowlers grinding out a 4-2 win in the second game. Both teams have a heated rivalry that will only turn up the heat as the season moves along. Later that night, the Lakewood Fire and Colorado Springs Thunder split their series. The Thunder won the first game 4-3, and the Fire dominated the second game, winning 6-1.

On the semipro side in the RM division, the Vikings and Thunder both won their first games in regulation and then their second games in overtime against the Littleton Fire and Arvada Fire respectively.

The Minor League in the RM Division is slated to start on Sunday, 2/26 at the Parker Fieldhouse, with the Thornton Typhoon, Monument Thunder, and Pikes Peak Vikings playing two games each on the day.
